Douglas Paul "Huggy" Ballman, 65, of Fairborn, OH, passed away on July 21, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Doug is survived by his two sons Travis (Miranda) Ballman and Matthew (Cana) Ballman, granddaughter Olivia Ballman, brother Don Ballman and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Janet and parents Louis and Barb Ballman.
Doug was born on March 18, 1959 in Kettering, Ohio. He graduated from Carroll High School and received his BA from the University of Dayton. Doug worked his career as a graphic designer where he met Jan while they were both working for Elder-Beerman. He later worked for E.F. MacDonald Marketing/Carlson Marketing in Maple Grove, MN and then went on to start his own business 90 Degree Design.
Doug was an avid and accomplished woodworker and artist. He was incredibly creative and witty. He enjoyed taking on "passion" projects for family and friends including building his first grand daughter's crib, designing his son's sports logos when they were young as well as countless personalized items for friends and family. An avid lover of pop culture, he would challenge anyone in a game of trivia involving music, sports, history, etc. He was a wonderfully dedicated father/grandfather/brother/husband and friend who always put his family first and embraced all aspects of his life with enthusiasm, love and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Newcomer’s Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
