Doug Stockman

January 26, 1946 — December 28, 2024

Huber Heights

Doug Stockman, a cherished member of the Huber Heights community, passed away on December 28, 2024, after a prolonged illness. Born on January 26, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Doug was raised in a family that instilled in him a strong work ethic and passion for automobiles.

Doug's career began as a part-time police officer for Wayne Township, now known as Huber Heights, from 1969 to 1973. His love for mechanics led him to serve as an auto mechanic across several major dealerships, including Simon Cadillac, White Allen, Honda, and Paul's Garage. At Paul's Garage, he had the pleasure of working alongside his colleagues and friends, Paul and Charlie Lovely, further cultivating his craftsmanship in automotive repairs.

Educated in the Dayton City Schools, Doug attended Jefferson Elementary and graduated from Colonel White High School in the class of 1965. Throughout his life, Doug was known for his stubbornness and unique sense of humor, often displaying love through playful sarcasm. He had a low tolerance for ignorance and was famously candid with his opinions. Yet, those who knew him well appreciated his chatty nature, especially when conversations turned to cars. Doug was particularly fond of reading the printed newspaper, enjoying the tactile experience of holding it in his hands.

A true car enthusiast, Doug was an avid Sunbeam Car Tiger supporter and proudly showcased an award-winning Sunbeam vehicle. He took joy in sharing his knowledge and expertise, often teaching others about automotive repair and maintenance. His presence was felt strongly in the Sunbeam autocross and drag racing circles, where he was well-respected for his accomplishments.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Stockman; his daughter, Cheryl (Daniel Brown) Webb; his grandchildren, Jordyn Webb and Dalton Webb; faithful canine companions, Lucy and Cassie; and loving feline friends, Red and Blue. He is also survived by his brother, David Charles (Patricia L.) Stockman; his brother-in-law, Lanny (Sandra) Ogden; his nephew, David Alan Stockman; and his nieces, Joanna Stockman and Melissa Ogden-Stein. In addition, he leaves behind dear friends Doug Jennings and Rick and Cleo Keighley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David V. Stockman and Ruby B. Stockman. Doug’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him—especially through the stories shared about his deep passion for cars and the meaningful interactions he fostered throughout his life.
