Dorothy McFadgen "Granny", "Auntie", "Dot" received her wings on Saturday, September 21st as she transitioned from this life to her new Heavenly Home. She blessed her family and community of friends and neighbors with 85 wonderful years.
Dorothy lived her life in a quiet yet spirited manner of serving God first, family and friends. She was very strong in her principles and did not hesitate to share what she believed to be right and call you out with just a 'look' if she thought you were wrong. She loved to shop, shop and shop! All who knew her, knew that she would always find a bargain, yet, it would never look like a bargain and she would be fully coordinated from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. She had great love for her family and would be the greatest supporter of all of her children and grandchildren's activities for the duration of her life. She was known to be a fabulous southern girl cook, who never needed a recipe to get it "just right"! As her memory started to fade in her later years, she still was able to fully engage and stay active in her home, which she dedicated to making it a home and not just a house. She had her favorite reclining spot and enjoyed collecting and holding on to just about everything! Her love of shopping, cooking, children activities and sense of pride in appearance will forever be remembered by those who loved her so dearly!
Her family will celebrate her life in song and praise on Saturday, September 28th at 11:00 am at Macedonia Baptist Church at 27 N. Gettysburg in Dayton, Ohio. The viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of choice be made to the Alzeheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society in her name. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. To share a memory of Dorothy or leave a special message for her family, please visit the guestbook below.
