Dorothy Mae Collier, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2008. She passed away at Hospice of Dayton, OH. Dorothy was born March 29, 1928 in Clay County, KY. She spent part of her childhood in Kentucky, then moved with her family to West Liberty, OH. Dorothy was of the generation that lived and worked through the Great Depression and World War II. She met fellow Kentuckian Ellis Clayton Collier, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, following his return from the war. Ellis and Dorothy were married on July 2,1949, and spent 56 years together until his death in 2005. They had two children. Dorothy was a mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, listening to music, working puzzles, and spoiling her grandchild. She was loved by all her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Harry Julius and Opal Perkins, her brother Julius Edward, and her husband Ellis. She is survived by daughter Debbie Coppock and her husband Donald, of Bellbrook, OH.; a son, Bruce Collier of DeFuniak Springs, FL., and one grandson, Andrew Coppock, of Bellbrook. A viewing will take place on Friday, May 30, 2008 at Newcomer Family Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, OH. at 1 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Todd Hoskins of Vandalia Christian Tabernacle officiating. Interment will follow immediately afterward at Maple Hill Cemetary in Tipp City, OH.
