Dorothy Irene Gambrell

Dorothy Irene Gambrell, age 78 of Dayton, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born April 19, 1945 in Bridgeport, Alabama, the daughter of the late John and Rosie Miles.
Dorothy will be remembered for being a loving, kind and gentle woman. She enjoyed sewing, watching the flowers grow and taking care of her family. She had a way with children, in her own family as well as outside of her family; they immediately loved and adored her. Dorothy was a wife, a mother, a Mamaw and a true friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Gambrell; brother, David Miles and sister, Frances Townsend.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Carl; son, Danny Lee (Vickie) Gambrell; grandchildren, Brandon, Kody, Sofia (and their mother, Kimberly Bruens), Alicia, Steven and Crystal; great grandchildren, Avery and John; sister, Connie Powell; cousin, Jenny and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Dorothy will be laid to rest with her son Michael at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens at a later date.
