Dorothy E. Johnson, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Dayton, Ohio. Dorothy was born on October 28, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Stanley and Leona White.
Along with her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by sister, Betty Shadwick.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Nancy) Emmons; granddaughters, Michelle Emmons, Samantha Emmons, Jody McConaha; grandson, Rodney McConaha; great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Emmons, Megan Groehokowski; great-grandson, Mike McConaha; 3 great-great-grandsons; brothers, Bob (Jackie) White, Ed White; former daughter-in-law, Marilyn Emmons; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy held both Bachelors & Masters degrees in Education from Wright State University, stopping just 2 hours short of a PhD. She taught in the Kettering School system for 20 years, was a member of the National Education Assoc., Ohio Education Assoc., Kettering Class Room Teachers Assoc., Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 60, was a member of Winnebago/Itasca Travelers, Winnebago Wandering Ohio and a founding member of Cardinal Winnies of Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11 am at Centerville United Methodist Church, 63 E. Franklin St., Centerville, OH 45459.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Leonard's Benevolent Fund in Dorothy's honor.
