DUNCAN, Dorothy E., age 96, of Kettering, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Bethany Village.
Dorothy was born on June 4, 1917 in Syracuse, IN to the late Walter and Ethel Stiffler.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Horace E. Duncan; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Clifford Baker; twin brother and sister-in-law, John and Gladys Stiffler; brother, Ozro Stiffler, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Ray Davis, and granddaughter, Terri Lyn (Pickering) Kendel.
She is survived by her son, Warren Jay (Doris) Pickering; daughter, Alice Lenore (Pickering) Davis and significant other, David Bratton; grandchildren, Dan (Robin) Pickering and John Pickering, Mark (Kathy) Davis, and Mary McDonald; great grandchildren, Michael, Pamela (Zachary) Michael, Kevin and Amy Kendal, Megan and Kevin Davis, and Brittany McDonald, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She graduated from Bath High School (Fairborn) in 1935. She worked for the City of Dayton for 28 years, retiring in 1978. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:30 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of Bethany Village and Hospice of Dayton.
