Dorothy Davis

Davis, Dorothy R. (Koch, Simmons), 85 of Huber Heights, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Spring Creek Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth L. Simmons and her second husband, Samuel L. Davis, her parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sister Ruth Nugent, three special nephews, John, Timothy, and Gary Nugent, special niece, Mary Jane Gunter and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She had been employed at Delco and Rikes Department Store. Dorothy was a charter member of the De-Lighted Helpers, a group of volunteers transcribing into Braille textbooks used by blind school children in the Dayton area, receiving an award for the many hours she devoted to this endeavor. The work of this group was a positive influence in the success of the education of blind students in their local school systems. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. the same day, all at the Newcomer Funeral home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery of Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sightless Children's Club, 4048 Rushton Dr., Dayton, Ohio 45431, or to a charity of your choice.
