Dorothy Jean Coldiron, age 90 of Englewood, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2017. Dorothy was born in Dayton to the late Mary Eva and Joseph Claude Sims. She graduated from Patterson Co-op. Dorothy met Boyd Coldiron and the two married in August of 1951. Dorothy worked for many years as a secretary for Huffman Manufacturing, Better Business Bureau, and Laurence Lasky Attorney at Law. She was a long time member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. She was a skilled pianist and organ player. She had a love for animals, particularly cats. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Coldiron; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph Harold (Esther) Sims and Thomas (Mary Rita) Sims; grandchildren, Robert J. Davis and Daryl M. Davis; and son-in-law, Marvin Davis.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory; children, Patty Davis, Judy (Roger) Randolph, Mary (Timothy) Poppaw, and Robert E. (Julie) Coldiron; brother, Joseph Walter (Joan) Sims; grandchildren, Elizabeth Davis, Nicholas (Krystle) Coldiron, Ian Coldiron, Erin (Emerie) Lukas, Kelly Poppaw, and Steven Stillwell; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Exzavien, and Aiden; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held at Newcomer - North Chapel (4104 Needmore Road) on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4pm - 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Precious Blood Catholic Church on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:30am. Burial to follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Brookdale Hospice and Brookdale - Centennial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Montgomery County Humane Society or Alzheimer's Association.
