There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone their light remains. Doris Wyans from Beavercreek, Ohio (formerly from Fostoria, Ohio) was one of those lights. She passed away on June 17, 2021. She was born on December 13, 1935 in Gadsden, Alabama to Charles and Gertrude Lankford nee Jarrells. She married the late Curtis "Bud" Lyle Wyans of Fostoria, Ohio on May 29, 1954 in Gadsden, Alabama. She is survived by her children Ron (Marjorie) Wyans and Lori (Mark) Hagenmaier, sister Peggy Patterson nee Lankford, and brother Garey Lankford both from Hokes Bluff, Alabama. Also surviving are grandchildren Emily Fischer nee Hagenmaier, Audrey Hagenmaier, Ryley Wyans, Wendy Nickell, Chris Nickell and great grandchildren Madisson and Logan Hartsel. She was preceded in death by her sister Sue Harris nee Lankford and brother Ross Lankford from Hokes Bluff, Alabama.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She placed family first and was always encouraging and supportive. Doris loved playing cards, traveling and was an avid golfer. She was a very good cook and had a great sense of humor. Most of all, she enjoyed living her life. Doris was a resident at The Wellington of Dayton, where she enjoyed friends and many activities. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Doris' honor.
Visitation will be held Monday June 28, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 5:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432).
