Doris E. Vance, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away surrounded by her family, on August 7, 2024, in Huber Heights, Ohio. She was born on January 25, 1937, in Clintwood, Virginia, to the late Robert and Maxie Bunch. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son, David Powers; brother, Don Bunch; and four loves.
Doris dedicated over 35 years of her life to her as a Service Station Manager for Clark / Clemens Oil, where she exhibited a strong work ethic and unwavering dedication. Her commitment to excellence shone through in every aspect of her professional life, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.
Known for her feisty spirit and stubborn determination, Doris never knew a stranger. Her warm smile and welcoming nature endeared her to all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Whether it was a friendly chat or a helping hand, Doris was always there, ready to offer support and kindness.
Outside of work, Doris found joy in simple pleasures. She loved to knit and crochet, creating beautiful pieces with love and skill. Word searches were another favorite pastime, challenging her sharp mind and keen intellect. She also loved the Kentucky Wildcats.
Among her proudest accomplishments was her family, whom she cherished above all else. Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to those closest to her heart. She is survived by her children: Teresa Harshbarger, Jimmie Powers (Laurie), Steven Powers, Daniel Powers, Diane Nott (Clyde), Kelley Bradburn (Josiah), Debra Vaughn (Les), Tessie Studer and Dan Carlos Kennedy (Missy); many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Charles Bunch (Nancy), Nina Childress (Jimmie), Reid Bunch and Gary Bunch (Debbie); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio, where the funeral service will follow at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Doris' memory to Vitas Hospice.
In her passing, Doris E. Vance leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her legacy of love and kindness continue to inspire us all. Rest peacefully, Doris, knowing that you are deeply loved and greatly missed.
