Habel, Doris Mary, 83, departed peacefully from this world in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, October 10, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born to the late Henry and Katherine Fendt on March 6, 1938, in Saint Anne's Maternity Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was married to her husband, John, on August 22, 1964. She was a life long resident of Beavercreek. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara and is survived by her sister Janet Fleskes, husband John, daughter Barbara Byerly (David), son Steven Habel (Cheryl), and grandchildren including Jacob, Taylor, and Ian Byerly, Collin(Shai) Habel, Shelby Eby, BM1, U.S.N. , great grandchild Easton Alexander Habel, nieces Michele Dinkledine, Stephanie Estes, and Theresa Blankenship. Doris graduated from St. Joseph Commercial High School and was employed as a secretary in a local law firm for several years before becoming a housewife and mother. She was a loving wife, mother and friend and enjoyed attending card parties, grandchildren's baseball games, RV camping with family and friends, attending Dayton Gems hockey games and Bingo at Ascension Church. When she won a grand prize sewing machine at one of her Bingo games she noted that she had "finally won something that helped her break even for once!" Viewing will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Road Beavercreek. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am at the Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mount Zion Park Cemetery, Indian Ripple and South Fairfield Road, Beavercreek. The family would prefer that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton or the American Cancer Society in lieu of sending flowers.
