Doris "Ruth" Lester, age 84, of Dayton, went home to be with Jesus on January 28, 2022. She was surrounded by her family as she was ushered into His presence with singing and praying.
She was born December 3, 1937 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Edward and Clara "Lucille" Fish. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of over 43 years, Allen Lester; siblings: Lois Wilson, Ronald Fish, Faye Williams, John Fish and Edward Fish; and son-in-law, Danny Roberts.
Ruth is survived by her children: Pamela Roberts, Donna (David) Grant, Alana (John) Coleman and Marcia (Chris) Massey; grandchildren: Rachel (Allen), Michelle (Mark), Amber (Dan), Kristen (Neil), Hollyann, Lindsay, Tori (Gage), Davey, Trina (Daniel), Jonathan, Preston, Brooklyn, Dawson, Malena, Sydney and Lyla; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth was a member of New Life Church for nearly 60 years, where she served in many ministries, including administrator of Noah's Ark Nursery School for many years. Ruth was a three time breast cancer survivor.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a favorite, loving aunt and friend to many.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at New Life Church, 3350 Benchwood Drive, Dayton, where the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday. Burial to follow at Bearcreek Cemetery. Pastor Thomas Friend and Bishop Ronald Coleman co-officiating.
