Doris Ann Imhoff, age 77 of Dayton, Ohio passed away August 28, 2023. She was born June 12, 1946 in Hamilton, Ohio. As a young child the family moved to Otterbein, Ohio and later to Dayton, Ohio where she finished school prior to entering the work force.
Doris Ann graduated from Belmont High School in 1965. After graduation, she began her 31 year career at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in communications. While working as a civilian analyst, she communicated with a variety of countries and learned about different cultures. She received several distinguished commendations for her work. Her love of people and work ethic endeared her to her fellow employees and associates.
Doris Ann met and fell in love with Marvin Burns while working at WPAFB and they enjoyed a life long relationship that spanned over 44 years, until Marvin went home to be with the Lord.
For three years, while continuing her employment at WPAFB, she worked weekends at Kettering College. After retiring from WPAFB she continued her work with Kettering College. Having to say goodbye to friends and fellow workers when she retired, she managed to maintain many of those relationships while she made this career change.
As an office assistant and receptionist at Kettering College, Doris Ann was usually the first person a visitor would meet. Her work ethics, loving spirit, and caring attitude served her well as she transitioned from one career to another. She provided assistance for management, faculty, staff, and students, as well as aiding others in finding the location of their appointments. She was recently honored as "A Warm, Welcoming Spirit at Kettering College" and a highly valued employee during Women's History Month. When she became ill and was in intensive care at Kettering Hospital she received many visitors from the college, a real testament to her value, respect and love by multiple members of the Kettering family.
Doris Ann was preceded in death by her mother Doris (O'Rafferty), step father William Weckesser, sister Esther Cornett (Chris dec.), brother Darrell Imhoff, and partner Marvin Burns.
She is survived by sisters, Betty Kyne (William, dec.), Audrey Sutherland (Glenn, dec.), Eileen Yahle (Lawrence, dec.), Gloria Smith, Darliene Smith, Martha Molloy (John, dec.), brothers Calvin Imhoff (Karen, dec.), and Dennis Imhoff.
