Doris "Delores" Stevenson was born on April 18, 1918 in Dayton, OH and passed November 10, 2011 at the age of 93. She was a graduate of Steele High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simeon and Mattie Maxwell from Alabama, her husband Marshall F. Stevenson, Sr., a daughter Shirley Ann Hand (Gerald), brother Huston Maxwell (Helen), brothers Jesse, Sess, Leslie, Lloyd and Troy Maxwell and Cleveland Watts; sisters Mary C. Clemens, Lula Eberhart and Ina Groggins. She is survived by two children, Marsha Stevenson-Bell (Johnny) of Dayton, OH, a son, Dr. Marshall F. Stevenson, Jr. (Lynda) of Magnolia, DE; five grandchildren: Christina Johnson, Byron Hand, Michael Hand, Kellye Stevenson-Crape (Keith), Marshall F. Stevenson, III, and Lyndsay Stevenson; four great grandchildren, Bianca Johnson-Brown, Eric Crape, Jaden Crape and Camden Stevenson; nephew Huston Paul Maxwell, nieces Helen Elaine Lewis, Marsha Marie Jones of Dayton, along with a host of other relatives.
She was especially close to the Wright Family of Germantown, Ohio especially Paul, Bess, and Rudy. She worked in the nursing profession at Kettering Hospital for 17 years where she was one of the first employees and Good Samaritan Hospital prior to that. She was a member of the Ethan Temple SDA Church in Dayton and more recently the Dale Wright Memorial Church in Germantown, OH.
Visitation is Friday November 18, 2011 from 10am to 11am with funeral starting at 11am at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH.
Internment is at West Memory Gardens.
