Dorene "Dee" Mae Harmeling, 86, passed away Tuesday May 3, 2022. Dorene was born October 8, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio. From an early age she did not like Dorene and always went by the nickname "Dee".
Dee graduated from DeVilbiss High School. She was an active member of the Sweet Adelines singing group. She had a passion for opera music, musicals, animals, and crossword puzzles. Anyone that knew her would describe her as outspoken or a spitfire!
Dee was a married stay-at-home mom until both of her daughters were in middle school. She took a position as an office manager at Buckeye Marking Systems and soon after, went through a divorce. Then one day BMS hired a new guy. This new guy, Jerome G. Harmeling, turned out to be the love of her life. They celebrated 50 years together! Dee didn't like not being by his side and passed away just a mere 2 months and 1 day after Jerry. In their time together they rescued multiple dogs, were blessed with 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Dee is survived by her brother, Robert Smith; sister, Cheryl Cochran (Dennis Cochran); daughter, Terri Parks (Brian Parks); grandchildren: Heather Brown (Jonathon Brown), Jennifer Combs (Grant Combs), Stephanie Hughes (Brandon Wyen), Brandon Parks (Keshia Eldridge) and Bret Parks (Leocadia Parks); 10 great grandchildren: Jeremiah Combs, Layna Eldridge, Carley Wyen, Makenna Eldridge, Grace Combs, Niya Parks, Rylan Brown, Asher Wyen, Octavia Parks and Amelia Parks; niece, Susan Brooks (Doug Brooks); nephew, Michael Thompson (Amy Thompson); great nieces: Jenna Brooks and Abby Thompson and great nephew, Derek Brooks.
