With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donnie Lummer, our loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all whose lives he touched, on November 12, 2022. He was in his 83rd year.
Donnie "Duck" was born to William and Nellie Lummer in Indiana. He graduated from Aurora High School before joining the military with his brother, Jimmie Lummer. After his time in Army, and shortly after starting his career at General Motors, he met the love of his life, Mary Jane, and they spent 42 wonderful years building their happily ever after.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents William and Nellie, his brother, Jimmie, as well as his sister Betty Mays, and he is reunited with his love, Mary. He is survived by his sister, Shirley (Alex) Shamis, daughter Kathy (Sean) Chambers, nephew, Bobby (Jane) Mays, grandchildren, Katrina (Kortney) Wilbur, Sarah and Jenny Cassidy, Amanda Heckman, great grandchildren, Justin, Maslin Cassidy and Jase, as well as other numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He lived a full life as a wonderful father, grandfather, mentor, dedicated employee, and a highly skilled carpenter. He loved his cigars, golfing, his visits to his favorite bars to play Keno, fraternizing with his best buddy Scotty, and spending time with Kathy, Katrina, and Kortney. Most of all he loved his family and friends and instilled good values in his children and grandchildren that have served them well.
He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Donnie's life will be held at American Legion located at 5700 Kentshire Dr. Kettering 45440 on November 27th 1pm-4pm. The official service will begin at 2:30 pm.
