Donna Lee Hile (Woodie), 78, of Beavercreek, OH. , went to be with her Lord Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was born June 16, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther (Bateson) Blanco and father, James Truett McKinzie. Donna is survived by her husband, David; two sons, David Lee Hile and Daniel John (Barbara) Hile; daughter, Darlene Joyce Sunshine; sister, Yolanda Blanco (Carlos) Gomez; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Donna was a member of the Women's Civil Air Patrol in her earlier years. She was an active member of Christian Tabernacle Church in Dayton, OH, working in the Sunday School office for 20 years. She was a member of the Choir and handled costuming for church drama productions. Donna was southwest Ohio's promoter of Pioneer Girls programs as well as a Pioneer Girl leader for many years. Her most dedicated service was to Pioneer Girls Camp, Ohio Camp Cherith (now Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio), consistently since 1962. Through her years there, she life-guarded, taught swimming, archery, riflery, campcraft,nature, outdoor cooking, hiking, canoeing, horsemanship and arts and crafts. She taught hundreds of campers how to build a teepee fire that would start with 1 match, guaranteed. She was the most amazing wife and the fun mom every kid wanted. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
