Salley, Donna J (Shoemaker) age 98 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully May 17, 2021. She was born on January 5, 1923 in Ross County, Ohio to the late Harvey and Katie (Goodin) Shoemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Salley, of 65 years, her infant daughter, Sherri Lynn, her son Phillip Salley, daughter-in-law, Karen Salley, and son-in-law Wilford Alexander, and all 10 of her siblings.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Donald Nickell of Orlando, Florida, Northa and Mike Switzer of Kettering, Ohio, Marilyn Alexander of Anderson, Indiana, and Naomi and Greg McAfee of Bellbrook, Ohio, sons and daughters-in-law, David and Teresa Salley of Springboro, Ohio, Stephen and Kathy Salley of Beavercreek, Ohio and James and Susan Salley of Beavercreek, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; Debi (David) Willis, Tim and (Staci) Nickell, Rachelle Nickell, Danelle (Jonathan) Schwier, Tova Salley, Giordanne Salley, Tiernae Salley, Shelby Salley, Stephen (Chrissy) Salley, Candice Salley, Kaitlin Salley, Travis (Lucy) McAfee, Tiffany McAfee, Christopher (Jessica) Salley, and Cameron Salley; 7 great grandchildren, Timothy Michael (Karlie) Sassanian, Aaron Willis, Heather Nickell, Madison Wilder, Henry Salley, Ezekiel and Daniel Salley, and sisters-in-law, Marcella Shoemaker and Patricia Shoemaker of Chillicothe, Ohio along with numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved friends and neighbors.
She was a ministers' wife and served in churches in Dayton, Williamsport, and Bradford, Ohio at the Pilgrim Holiness and Wesleyan Churches. She dearly loved her family and loved spending time with them and they all loved her as well. Thank you to her children who looked after her after William died and enabled Donna to live independently in her home until her death. Being at home meant everything to Donna. "Well done, good and faithful servant."- Psalm 116:15.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton- Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45342). Funeral Services will begin at 1pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Park.
