Donald W. Ray was called Home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2023. He was born on March 29, 1936 to the late Ella (Clark) and Willie Ray in Cookeville, TN.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 67 wonderful years, Shirley Jane Ray and three daughters, Donna (Lew) Shore, Debra (Keith) Mitchell and Susan (Chris) Frazier. Don adored his nine grandchildren Vince, Victor, Valerie, Riley, Sarah, Samantha, Leah, Luke and Matthew, and they adored their Papa. Don has three great-grandchildren, Krissa, Lorelei and Max. He is also survived by two brothers, Bill (Pat) and Larry (Joy) Ray as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was a fantastic baker, retiring from the Carillon Cafeteria after 40 plus years. Don was an active member for many years in his church, Faith Baptist, and in his neighborhood, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Don loved nature, gospel music, reading, action movies, football and feeding the backyard birds. But his greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He was always happiest surrounded by his loved ones. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by all that knew him.
