Donald S. Quillen Jr.

November 1, 1965 — August 8, 2021

Donald S. Quillen Jr., age 55 of Miamisburg, went to the "big gig" in the sky on Sunday, August 8, 2021. He was born November 1, 1965 in Norton, Virginia the son of Donald and Linda Quillen.

Donald is preceded in death by his father Donald S. Quillen, Sr.; his "Pa & Mimmie" Willard Mac & Emma Hall Quillen; his "Grandpa & Grandma Varner" Lewis Calvin & Vileta Varner and his beloved dog, Snoopy.

He is survived by his mother, Linda L. Quillen; wife, Desteny L. Quillen; two sons, Donald S. (Lindsey) Quillen III, Kristopher M. (Tammy) Quillen; bonus children, Courtney (Kenton) Bell, Kaylee (Kalib Shaffer) Layne, and Reva Lewis; seven grandchildren, Layla, Mila, Bram, Evey, Margo, Raylynn, and Kalib Jr.; two sisters, Sarah (Dave Crowe) Collinsworth and Brittany Quillen; uncle John Varner, cousin Kelly Quillen, niece, Emma; nephew, David. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends and band members.

Donnie's love for music started at a young age and like rock & roll, it never died. He and his Uncle John started a cover band and his passion grew even larger leading him to many other stages throughout the years. He was a devoted father who raised two boys on his own with the help of his family and worked extremely hard to give his kids whatever they needed throughout life and made sure he was always there whenever they needed him. His love for music also introduced him to the love of his life, his amazing wife Desteny. Along with that he took on the task of raising 3 amazing girls, providing for them and teaching them the ways of the world. As the years passed, he and Desteny settled down into their new roles of being grandparents to 7 grand babies, his favorite part of life! He put in 20+ years at Allied Truck and Bus, where many of his coworkers became some of his best friends. Donnie continued his career at Habegger Corp. for over a decade, where he made even more great friends with his co-workers and customers. He also loved fishing, motorcycles, and going as fast as he possibly could in whatever car he had at the time. Unfortunately, he was called to heaven before any of us were truly ready. As the family tries to figure out their new normal, we'll always remember him as the kind, caring, a little wild (at times), family loving person that he was, His name and the memories of him will live on forever.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home-Kettering Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Quillen residence, immediately following the gathering until 8:30 PM. Donnie hoped that his family and friends would honor his request to not "sit and cry" but gather together, listen to rock & roll "AC/DC, Led Zeppelin" and drink a beer (BYOB). Classic cars and motorcycles are encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, please go out and support a local band.
