Donald Palivec

Donald R. Palivec, age 85, passed away on August 24, 2015 in Dayton, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan (Fortman) Palivec; four daughters Donna Palivec (Mur Gilman), Jan Marie (Ron) Zgoda, Tamara Murrin, Julie (Scott) Hoeflinger; grandchildren Timothy Evans, Jeremy (Julie) Evans, Hannah Hilgeford, Jennifer Hilgeford, Christine Zgoda, Michael (Chad Hrdina) Zgoda, Catherine McGinn Nichols; great grandchildren Minka and Jagger Evans and Max Nichols. Don was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Hedwick Palivec; brother Richard (Shirley) Palivec and son-in-law Timothy Murrin. He was a graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School and served in the U.S. Army. Don "Doc's" career began at McCall's/Dayton Press and later retired from Miami Valley Publishing in Fairborn. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Don's hobbies were gardening, woodworking and fishing. Visitation will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 9am-10am with a funeral mass to follow at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church.
