McGlaun, Donald Wayne, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Miami Valley Hospital South due to a heart attack. Mr. McGlaun is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sara A. McGlaun (McCool), children and their spouses, Donna E. Foster (Robert) of Kettering and Daniel W. McGlaun (Kimberly) of Xenia, grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher Michael Hinders (Irda), and Caryn Leeann Hoffman (Ryan), great-grandchild Alexander Christopher Hinders (his "little man") and Michael E. Hinders. He is also survived by, brother Harold Norman McGlaun, of Massachusetts, sisters Mary Garrett, of Livingston, Tennessee and Ruth Smith of Beavercreek, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Rowena McGlaun, and brother Charles McGlaun.
Mr. McGlaun was retired from the Delco Moraine division of General Motors Inc., where he worked for 35+ years.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Newcomer funeral home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. The family will receive friends at the chapel on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton Ohio, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton.
Mrs. McGlaun and the family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Greene County Sheriff's department, the Spring Valley Township Fire and Rescue department, and the staff at Miami Valley Hospital for all of their efforts on Don's final day.
