Donald McClure, 88, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2022. He was born July 13, 1934, in Decatur, Illinois, to the late Jesse and Lillian McClure.
He had a love of aviation, serving in the US Air Force, music, culminating his marching band career with Marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and his beloved Newfoundland dogs. He enjoyed golf, tennis, photography, woodworking and reading. Mostly, he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his calmness, kindness, and generosity. He was stoic in times of stress but mostly shared an engaging smile and a jolly laugh.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his children, Kathy (Tom) Zegarski, Pamela (Gary) Isrealson; grandchildren, Bryan (Paola), Kelly (Colin), Sean and Matthew, Kerry, Kevin and Mitchell; sister, Maryann; and many other extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Pat McClure; and his beloved dog Brandy.
Services are pending and will be held privately by the family.
