Donald Lawson

Donald Lawson, was born June 2, 1938 passed in his home surrounded by those who loved him on September 24, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his father, Reed Lawson; his mother, Delia (nee: Elliott) Lawson; his sister Lucille (nee: Lawson) Clutts; his brothers, Herman Lawson and JC Lawson; his two sons, Timothy and Thomas Lawson. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffrey Reed Lawson.

Donald is survived by wife, Barbara (nee: Warner) Lawson; his son, Jonathan (Theressa) Lawson; his daughters, Melissa (Michael) (nee: Lawson) Jackson, Lori (Jeffrey) (nee: Lawson) Butts; six grandchildren, Hollie, Timothy, Donald, Michael, Julina, Patrick, and twelve great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allysen, Tristan, Harper, Autumn, Leoda, Sawyer, Cooper, Julianna, Kia, Aaron, Andre; his brother, Billy Ray and his sister, Anna Faye.

Donald was a family man. There was nothing more important to him than them. He was a hard worker, working two jobs at one point; McCalls and driving a school bus for Dayton Public Schools. When McCalls shut down, he kept his family afloat by mowing yards and doing odd jobs until his job in 1981 came along at RTA driving a city and county bus until his retirement in 2001. Another job he had loved was leading the music at Bethany Baptist Church, It wasn't something he got paid for. He did it to serve the Lord.

Visitation will be held 10 AM – 12 PM, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 with the services beginning at 12 PM, all at Newcomer Funeral Home – Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, OH 45439. He will be laid to rest at David's Cemetery.
