Donald Joseph Hapner "Uncle Sleepy", age 81, of Dayton, passed away December 19, 2013. Donald was born on June 5, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Lester and Lulu (Reed) Hapner.
Donald is survived by his son Jeffrey (Theresa) Hapner, his sister Barbara Weber and brother Philip A. Hapner. His three grandsons Bradley, Chadwick, and Tyler Hapner. Along with his lifetime partner Ruby Todd and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is preceded in death by brothers: Kenneth A. Hapner, Paul E. Hapner, Richard H. Hapner, Robert L. Hapner, David L. Hapner, and Sister Sara Sue Brown.
He worked at McCall's and Dayton Press for over twenty five years and was a member of the Iron Workers local 290. Donald served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War in 1952. He was a wonderful man, brother, father, and grandfather. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held 5-8:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road Dayton, Ohio. A funeral service will be held the following day Saturday at 10 am, December 28, 2013 at the Newcomer North Chapel.
Burial will take place at the Miami Memorial Park located at 7733 North Crescent Drive, Covington, Ohio 45318 Cemetery.
