Donald R. Hoyer "Don", 71, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday evening, 23 January 2010 at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. He was born on May 3, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Hoyer and a son, James R. Hoyer. Don is survived by his mother, Clara M. Hoyer; sons John (Jill) Hoyer of Xenia and Jerry (Donna) Hoyer of Washington Courthouse; sister Sherry (Alan) Partee of Wilberforce; special friend Jacque Trick of Vandalia; step-grandchildren Donald South and Michael (Jennifer) South; niece Karen (Bill) Aldrich of Waynesville; 6 step-nieces and nephews Dawn (Ted) Yantis, Alan (Amy) Partee Jr., James Partee, Austin Partee, Andre' Partee, Ben Partee and a whole host of friends. He graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1956 where he played varsity football. He went to work for NCR, eventually leaving to start his own boat/motor sales/service business, Xenia Marine. He spent over 40 years in the boat business, most recently working for Dayton Boat Store. Don was an avid ballroom dancer, winning many awards in past years. He was currently Vice President of Dancetonians Dance Club. One of his high school football teammates saw him dancing and remarked that if Don had moved like that on the football field he wouldn't have gotten tackled so much. His other passion was fishing and he looked forward to his annual trip to a resort in Wisconsin. Don was honest and trusting, always believing everyone would do the right thing. His word and a handshake were as binding as any legal document.
