Helterbran, Donald F. "Hilty", age 84, passed away October 9 at Walnut Creek Nursing Home. He was born in Adams County, Ohio on August 27, 1923 to Ben & Ruth Helterbran. He graduated from Belfast High School, was a member of East Dayton Christian Church, and a United States Army Veteran proudly serving during WWII. He worked for NCR for over 28 years and retired from General Motors after 12 years. Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports.
Don is survived by two sons: Richard (Nancy) of Paris, TN and Douglas (Carol) of NC; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters: Louise (Neil) Schaeffer and Betty (Howard) Root; and numerous nephews, nieces, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering with Reverend Scott VanDyke officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Locust Grove Cemetery near Peebles, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the East Dayton Christian Church Building Fund, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
