Donald Fleming
February 9, 1936 — July 15, 2012
Donald Lee Fleming, age 76, resident of Lady Lake, FL, a loving husband of nearly 54 years, father, grandfather, and Sunday school teacher passed quietly into the presence of the Lord on July 15th.
He was born in Roseville, OH where he was a star student and athlete, president of his high school class, and homecoming king at Roseville High School. Don was a retiree from Mound Research Laboratory in Miamisburg, OH. Don was a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, OH. He had many additional hours at Michigan State University and the United States Mint in Washington, D.C. During his professional career he worked closely with NASA to develop systems for several Apollo rockets and deep space probes. As a result his name appears on multiple patents. He was also a former member of Who's Who Among American Scientists. Even in his retirement he was known as an outstanding golfer and avid sportsmen. Until shortly before his death he played golf several times a week with friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Helen Fleming of Roseville, OH.
Survivors include his wife Beverly Fleming, his son Warren (Chip) Fleming, his daughter-in-law Susan Fleming, and his grandson Vitaly Fleming an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fleming of Benton, AR and an aunt Garnet Chaloupka of Beatrice, NE.
Arrangements are handled by Newcomer Funeral Home Kettering Chapel. Visitation will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church, 26 N. Locust St. West Carrollton, OH, from 9:30-11:00 AM on Saturday July 21, 2012. A memorial service of Christian burial will be held in the sanctuary of Memorial United Methodist following visitation. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 401 N. Miami Ave. West Carrollton At the conclusion of the graveside service a meal in his memory will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society, Leesburg United Methodist Church (1005 W. main Leesburg, FL) or memorial United Methodist Church (26 N. Locust St, West Carrollton, OH 45449).
