Donald E. "Mike" Mikesell, age 79 of Kettering, passed away November 14, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Delpha Mikesell; parents-in-law, Ray and Ruby Keller; brothers, Raymond and Richard; sister, Onda Pheanis; and sister-in-law, Carole Allgyer.
Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; children, Terry (Jennifer) Mikesell, Lorri (Kenneth) Alcorn, Jeffrey (Joanne) Mikesell and Peggi (David) Patrick; grandchildren, Kristen (Scott) Sullivan, Joshua Sewell, Jonathan Mikesell, Matthew Mikesell, Lynn (Chris) Jordan, Allison (Travis) Knight, Angela (Chris Pickett) Mikesell, Jay Mikesell and Amy Patrick; great grandchildren, Julien and Micah; step great grandchildren, Anthony and Mason; brothers-in-law, James (Phyllis) Keller and Don Allgyer; sister-in-law, Dolores Mikesell; many nieces, nephews; and dear friends Dale and Marion Voehringer.
He was a graduate of General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, and of the University of Dayton. Don spent his working career of 38 years with General Motors. He retired as Superintendent of Manufacturing Engineering, Harrison Division, Moraine. He loved his family, fishing, travelling, reading, camping and sharing laughter around the dinner table or campfire.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., where the family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, from 3-5 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Heritage Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the T.O.M. Club or to a charity of your choice.
