Donald L. DeWitt Junior, age 75 of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Kindred Hospital. Born March 8, 1946 in Washington, Pennsylvania, he was the first son of Donald Senior and Geraldine Norma Streibling.
A quiet, thoughtful man, Donald was deeply spiritual with an individualistic bent. He was a certified minister. Creative in both a practical and artistic sense, he was an excellent artist, with the ability to draw anything. He could analyze how things were made and could build almost anything. A graduate of Dunbar High School where he played football, Donald attended Central State University for a year. He worked in various manufacturing jobs in Dayton, before settling into a role of independent contract.
Donald was also funny, once telling a story at a family gathering about how to cook possum that involved the addition of numerous spirits and ended with throwing away the possum and drinking gravy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Donald DeWitt Sr.; son, Alan DeWitt; and three grandchildren, Chad DeWitt, Alexis DeWitt, and Keith DeWitt Junior.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Rosalyn DeWitt nee Barrett; mother, Geraldine S. Moran; two sons, Sherman Muhammad of Kent, Washington and Keith DeWitt Senior Beaumont, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother, Geraldine Moran of Durham, NC; sister, Karen DeWitt of Baltimore, MD; brother, Mark DeWitt of Durham, NC; and brother-in-law, Warrick Barrett, MD of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Donald's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Miami Valley Hospital and Kindred Hospital for the care and compassion during such a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or to American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home- South Chapel located at 3940 Kettering Boulevard, Kettering, Ohio 45439. Funeral Service will be officiated by Elder Ronald C. Todd II following at 1:00 pm. Family has requested that masks be work at all times.
