Donald R. Boone, age 78 of Dayton, passed away November 13, 2014. He was born November 5, 1936 in Manchester, Ohio to the late Carlos and Clara Boone. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law: M. Eugene and Norma Boone; and son-in-law, Randy Carver.
Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda S. Boone; children: Daniel (Sandra) Boone, Rebecca (Jeff) Payne and Donna Carver; grandchildren: Crystal Carver, Jessica Payne, Lindsey Carver, Jamie (Adam) Bouschard, Joshua, Justin and Jacob Payne, Randy and Brandy Carver; 14 great grandchildren; niece, Linda Kay (Jim) Morris; nephew, Kelly E. Boone; numerous other relatives and friends. Don is also survived by his pet bird, Smoky.
Don was employed by Donuts, Inc. starting in 1962, became owner in 1977 and renamed the business D & L DoNuts. In 1990 Don was employed by Miami Valley Hospital and retired from there in 2008. He had a great passion for Bluegrass music. Many of Don's favorite memories were from traveling throughout the United States. He attended Moraine City First Church of God under Vernon B. Collins, followed by Russell Hays. Don was a member of the Mystic Lodge # 405 F & AM, Antioch Shrine and the Manchester Fire Department. Don enjoyed fishing and was a wiz at completing sudoku puzzles.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Moraine City First Church of God, 5867 Springboro Pike, Dayton, where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. Pastor Russell Hays officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Contributions may be made in Don's memory to Moraine City First Church of God.
