Donald Edward Atkins

Donald E. Atkins, age 93 of Riverside, OH, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Pristine Senior Living of Beavercreek. He was born April 1, 1924 in Salyersville, Kentucky to James "J.R." and Grace (Pace) Adkins. Don married Ellaree Allen on March 3rd, 1949 in Salyersville, KY.

Don was a member of the Plumbers/Pipe Fitters Local Union #162 for over 65 years. He was proud of his strong work ethic. Don was always proud to give his employers a "full day's work" and was often heard to say, "I liked it!". Don, being a "Jack of All Trades" proudly built homes for himself, his family and his sons. He loved to farm, garden, tinker and a cold beer in the shade.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pristine Senior Living of Beavercreek for their compassionate care and concern while taking care of Don and making him part of their family; their love and support is truly appreciated. We would also like to thank the amazing nurses and staff at Hospice of Dayton for their loving care during his final days with us.

Don is survived by his three sons, Garry (Elice) Atkins, Ron (Noreen) Atkins and Gregory (Bernadette) Atkins; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Adkins; a sister, Ilene Risner; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 60 years, Ellaree Atkins; one brother, James Ernest Adkins; and three sisters, Leneva Holbrook, Elizabeth Bowling and Verglenda Dotson Perry.

A Funeral Service will be held February 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on February 15 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
