Donald Elwood Artz

Donald "Big Donnie" Elwood Artz, Sr, 84, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023. Loving father of Dana (Jody) Griffiths, Little Donnie Artz and Jarron Gibbs, cherished grandfather of Tifiney (Junior) Collette, Donald Artz, III, Christina Clark and Joshua Artz, beloved brother of Virginia (Larry) Wright and Danny (Paula) Artz. Big Donnie is also survived by 7 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all.

Big Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Roberta Artz and siblings David Artz, Norman Artz and Rhodora Johnson.

Big Donnie spent his life working on cars. He loved the classics and spent time rebuilding them. He was a member of multiple car clubs and was a Geezer at Killkare Drag Strip. He ran in demolition derbies from time to time but spent most of his time at car shows. He loved his family very much but cars were his passion.

Big Donnie spent a large amount of time with the deaf community in Dayton. He attended events such as bowling, softball and golfing leagues. He also had a deep love for animals, especially his Boston Terrier Bear.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Homes (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd). on Friday February 17, 2023 at 10:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at New Carlisle Cemetery.
