Diane Burney

BURNEY, Diane Exie, 71, of Dayton passed away Monday, March 21, 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents George Thomas and Callie Mae Ford; husband Thurman McKenley Burney,Sr.; son Clifford Ronald Burney; sister Ruth Slaughter; and brother John Ford. Diane is survived by her children Thurman (Yolanda) Burney, Jr., Allen (Anna) Burney, Bernard (Tracey) Burney, Anna M (James) Hill, and Michelle Burney-Whitney; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy M Kerley, of Carson, CA and Yvonne Thomas, of Pittsburgh, PA; 4 stepdaughters; 1 stepson; 7 step grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

She was a active member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church for 27 years, where she sang in the choir, and Overcomers In Christ Ministries for 17 years, where she was Mother of the Church. Diane was a volunteer on the Hospice Unit, for 8 years, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio.

Above all Diane was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. Family will receive friends from 9:00AM-11:00AM Monday March 28, 2011 at Overcomers In Christ Ministries, 900 Cincinnati St., Dayton, Ohio 45417, with Pastor Eric Walker officiating. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM followed by burial at Dayton National Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Bethany Lutheran Village, Miami Valley Hospital and Hospice of Dayton for the care of our loved one.
