Diane Birman Brunn

April 16, 1962 — March 30, 2023

Diane Birman Brunn, age 60 of Dayton, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born on April 16, 1962 in Piqua, Ohio the daughter of Robert and Janice Birman.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Birman.

Diane is survived by her beloved husband of 12 years, Mark Brunn; son, Brandon Klopsch; daughter, Brooke Shearer; two step-daughters, Kristin (Brian) Taylor and Erin Brunn; three grandsons, Andrew, Jordan, and Lucas; mother, Janice Birman; two sisters, Debbie Jackson, and Denise Montgomery. She is also survived by numerous family and friends.

Diane's favorite hobby was traveling. She and Mark had many amazing adventures together, more than most people have in a lifetime. They were especially fond of visiting less travelled areas of the Caribbean, staying away from tourists and cruise ships to enjoy being a part of the island culture. Organizing family events for Brandon, Brooke, Kristin, Erin and her three grandchildren brought her special joy. She enjoyed being anywhere outdoors, hiking, working in the yard, bike riding, or picking up sticks with her three grandsons. Diane was an active member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church for 30 years where she volunteered for numerous activities and leadership positions. Board game and cards were Diane's favorite pastime, especially playing Euchre with friends or board games with son Brandon. Diane's pride and joy were her three grandsons. She spent every possible second with them, all the while being a blessing to her daughter Brooke. Diane was a proud veteran and a 1984 graduate of the United States Military Academy, graduating just 5 years after the military Academies began accepting women for enrolment. On active duty, Diane was a paratrooper and served in the famed 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles". Returning to civilian life she graduated 1st in her class from the University of Dayton Law School in 1996 while raising young Brandon and Brooke. She had a successful career as an attorney in Dayton until her retirement in 2021.

Above all, Diane sought opportunities to help anyone who needed help. She lived to bring joy and comfort to others and make a positive difference to the life of anyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched.
