Dewey C. Anderson, 87, of Xenia, OH passed away peacefully on March 22 after a long battle with cancer.
Dewey was born on January 15, 1925 in Barbourville, KY. He retired from General Motors and has enjoyed an active retirement that included 5 years as a Beavercreek City Schools Bus Driver, countless home farm projects, gardening, and thousands of miles of cycling, which he continued through this past summer. Dewey Anderson will be remembered for his caring heart, endless humor, and as a man who never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bessie, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Steve Schneider of Xenia, OH and Dewella and Carl Urps of Huber Heights, OH, brother Troy Anderson of Bradenton, FL, 3 granddaughters, Tammy Lyons, Stephanie (Doug) Finkle, and Josie (Dave) Wolfe, and 3 great-grandchildren, Jesse Wallace, Hannah Lyons, and Logan Beall and many other other family members and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Alza Anderson, 2 sisters, Thelma Ulrich and Estele Cambell, and brother Coleman Anderson.
Family will receive visitors at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH on Monday March 26, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm.
Services will be held at the same location on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton.
