DeWayne Thomas Kinder Sr., age 67 of Dayton, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. He was born January 3, 1956 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the son of John and Nora Kinder.
DeWayne considered himself a pro fisherman and was very well known at Rainbow Lakes. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to work on cars. He was truly a jack of all trades and made friends everywhere he went. He retired from Wright State University after 35 years of service. DeWayne will be remembered for his vivid tall tales, his ability to crack a joke or make up a funny song and his healthy appetite.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Kinder and Dennis Kinder; grandmother, Lona Large and numerous aunts and uncles.
DeWayne is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julie; children, Angel (Dave) Harris, Dewayne Kinder Jr., David M. Kinder and David C. Kinder; granddaughter, Aedon Harris; siblings, Carolyn (Massir) Azegza, Roger Kinder, Johnny Kinder and Patricia Truett; step-mother, Miriam Kinder; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thanks to David "Jr" Collins, DeWayne's best friend, for always being there for him, especially during his recent illness.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio). DeWayne will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville at 1:00 pm after funeral services.
