Derward C. Elsea

ELSEA, Derward Carl, age 84, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born October 27, 1922 in Sale Creek, TN, the son of Benjamin N. and Ethel J. (Green) Elsea. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp and retired from General Motors after 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma P. Elsea in 2004; both parents; 5 brothers, Gerald, William, Thomas (Narris), Harlan, and John. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Connie Ellison, Carla and Ronald Westfall; one son, James Elsea; two grandchildren, Barbara Totton and her fiance David Davis, September Dawn Owens; four special great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Kimberly, and Bryan; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Evelyn Elsea; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd.) with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Linda Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mickey Denen, Hospice of Dayton and especially Gayle Satterthwaite and Darlene Bishop. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
