Derek Anton Keith, age 61, of Dayton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Derek was born on April 2, 1952 in Dayton, Ohio where he attended Roosevelt High School and continued his education at Model City Culinary School where he also completed his second certification in masonry. Derek was married to Joyce E. Keith on June 23, 1973, and they were married for 40 years. He worked as a Stone Cutter at Rahn Granite Surface Plate Company and held other jobs at W.A. Apple Manufacturing Company, Yodel Die Cast Corp. as well as Merchant Security Company. His hobbies and interests include: Fishing, Wood working, Landscaping & Lawn Care, as well as Gardening and was a member of the Rahn Granite Bowling league, Greater Allen A.M.E. Church, as well as the social group "The Black Medallions." and was a mental health advocate at Daymont West. Derek leaves to cherish his memory his spouse Joyce Keith, His children: Laura Chauhan (Vijay) & Teresa Cunningham & adopted son Ivan Carter. Followed by 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Brothers: James Mock (CA), David Mock (PA), Louis Jr. Mock (MN) & Harold Pullens (OH). Sisters: Loretta Mock, Lois Scott, Melissa Chancellor & adopted sisters Lynn Holt & Brenda Stoudemire (Terry) all of Dayton. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and special friends including Best Friends Larry Lovelace, Dave Robinson, Gene Poe and Charlie Fowler and their families. Derek was preceded in death by his Parents Lucille & Louis Mock Sr., Sister Laura Ann Mock, Brothers Eddie, Paul, and Lorenzo Mock. His Home Going Service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, February 1, 2014 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Greater Allen A.M.E. church, 1620 W. 5th St, Dayton, OH 45402 with Rev. Earl G.
