Dixon, Cpl. Derek C., age 20, of Riverside, passed away on June 26, 2007 in Saqlawiyah, Iraq while serving his country proudly in support of War on Terrorism as a United States Marine with 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was born January 14, 1987 in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Mound Street Academy in Dayton, Ohio in 2005 and was a member of the Explorer's Group. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Action, and the Global War on Terrorism Medals. He is preceded in death by his great grandparents, William H. & Jessie Finley and his great uncle, Russell Finley. Survivors include his grandparents, Glenda S. Brightman & R.D. Davidson of Riverside, Arnold & Sue Dixon of Dayton; mother Melissa Trochelman of Dayton, lifelong dad, Tom Trochelman and wife Ercela of Miamisburg; sisters, Melinda Trochelman of Miamisburg & Meagan Keys of Riverside; uncle, Dwain Dixon of Riverside; great uncles and great aunts, U. L. & Judy Langford of Huber Heights, Freda Eastep of Dayton, Patty Agee of Dayton, Leatrice Humphrey of Dayton & Bobby & Sharon Finley of Lebanon; and numerous relatives and friends including, cousins, Ralph Miller & Mike Langford; best friends, Jarrett & Timmy Newport, Chantel, Stephanie, & Stacy. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Agape Family Worship Center, 2141 Harshman Rd., Riverside, OH 45424. The family will be receiving friends at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of services. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Gardens, Tipp City, Ohio with full Military Honors.
