Denny R. Smith
April 5, 1930 — February 2, 2016
Denny R. Smith, age 85 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016. He was born April 5, 1930 in Letcher County, KY to the late Hewey E. Sr., and Leona (Ellis) Smith. In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby June Smith and brothers, James and Herbert Smith.
He is survived by his sons, Michael R. and Walter M. Smith both of TX; siblings, Geraldine Haynes of KY, Ruth Fugate of OH, Hewey E. Smith, Jr., Margaret Longworth and Katherine Smith all of FL and Elizabeth Mackey of GA.
Denny received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education and taught school for 26 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of F.O.E in Milton Union.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424.
A viewing will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, February 6 at Letcher Funeral Home, 102 Main St., Whitesburg, KY 41858 with a funeral service to begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow the service at Pendelton Cemetery, Whitesburg, KY.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Brookdale Beavercreek, in Denny's memory.
