Dennis Joseph Schlegel

Dennis Joseph Schlegel, age 85 of Dayton, OH went to join his heavenly family on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to Ives and Joan (Albers) Schlegel.
Dennis graduated from Chaminade High School in Dayton in 1955. He served in and was honorably discharged from the Navy. Dennis attended several local universities between 1957 and 1963. He worked various jobs including the Wright Brothers Post Office in Dayton, where he was a letter carrier, retiring from there after 30 years. Dennis was a member of St. Helen's Parish, the Knight's of St. John #132, the American Legion and was a lifetime member of the Postal Union #182. He enjoyed collecting coins, rare bills, and stamps, as well as working crossword puzzles. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Angela M. Powell and Amanda A. (Michael) Stockman; sons, Kevin Ives (Cindy) Schlegel and Ronald J. Schlegel; thirteen grandchildren, Joseph, Randall, Shandi (Rick), Eric, Bruce, Jennilea, Gabriel, Nicholas, Brandon, Alexis, Jacqueline, Keith and Kayla; three great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Jeanette Coleman Schlegel; siblings, Howard, Michael (Carole), Edward (Barbara), Kathy and Anne; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donald, Jimmy and Mary Catherine.
A Celebration of Dennis' life will be held on Friday, October 22 from 4-7pm at the National Association of Letter Carriers Union Hall, 1860 Radio Rd in Dayton.
