Deacon Emeritusbrotheredward Bradfield

July 29, 1932 — April 21, 2022

Deacon Emeritus Edward Bradfield, age 89 was the youngest child of 15 born to the late Reverend Silas and Viola Bradfield on July 29th, 1932, in Yazoo County, Vaughn Mississippi. He moved to Dayton, Ohio at an early age and was educated in the Dayton school system graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School where he was a basketball player. He served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He worked and retired from the Dayton Electronics Supply Center (DESC). It was there that he fought for desegregation and equal opportunity in employment for African Americans. Deacon Bradfield was a profession painter and owned and operated Bradfield & Sons painting. Deacon Bradfield was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Deacon Bradfield was baptized at an early age at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoralship of the late Reverend H.L. Buckman, where he served on the Usher Board. He later followed the direction of his brother the late Reverend N.G. Bradfield in April 1958 as he organized the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio, and was a charter member. He was ordained as a Deacon and served as a Deacon for over 50 years, serving as Chairman of Deacon Board, to which he was honored as a Deacon Emeritus. Deacon Bradfield was a prayer warrior. He also loved to study and teach the Word of God. He was a long Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School at the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Deacon Bradfield was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, children Dr. Michael Bradfield and daughter Janice Bradfield as well as his wife of over 60 years Mary Browne Bradfield. He leaves to cherish his memory, 3 sons; Silas Bradfield, Lewis (Linda) Bradfield; Jeffery Bradfield and Dion Bradfield. A devoted daughter in law June Bradfield; brother in law, Darryl Browne, a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Special friends include Brother Sylvester Eason; Sister Massie Slaughter and the Hopson family; other relatives, family, and friends.

Homegoing services are scheduled for Monday, May 16th, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church 649 Groveland Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45417.
