David A. Ward, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 19, 1938, David dedicated his life to being a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and respect.
David proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he developed a deep sense of duty that he carried with him throughout his life. His commitment to service and community was evident in all that he did, and those who knew him understood the pride he took in this honor.
In addition to his military service, David had a wealth of interests that reflected his vibrant spirit. He enjoyed fishing and boating, often spending weekends on the water, relishing the serenity that nature provided. His love for hunting was equally strong, as he appreciated the thrill of the chase and the beauty of the great outdoors. A genuine dog lover at heart, David had many faithful companions over the years who brought him joy and comfort. He also had a passion for old hotrods, taking pleasure in the nostalgia and craftsmanship of classic automobiles. Furthermore, his keen interest in military history underscored his respect for those who served before him, shaping his worldview and sparking countless conversations.
Family was central to David's life. He is survived by his loving wife Barb of 63 years; son, Jeffrey (Melissa) Ward, and cherished granddaughter, Bethany (Van). David maintained strong connections with his extended family, including brothers-in-law Phil (Celeste) Johnson and Pat O'Dell, sister-in-law Carol Pontillo, as well as many nieces and nephews, particularly Bill and Bobbie, with whom he shared a special bond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Ward; his sister, Manie; his brothers: Harold, Bob, Gene, George, and Roger; and sister-in-law, Doris. Their absence is felt deeply but their memories will forever be a part of David's enduring legacy.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to David’s neighbors, Lloyd & Niki and Barb & Mike for their friendship over the years.
As we remember David A. Ward, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, kindness, and a commitment to those around him. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, guiding them with the values he instilled throughout his life.
