David Scott Van Scoyk, age 80 of Bellbrook, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton after a brief illness. He was born April 14, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late David and Freda Van Scoyk. David graduated from West Carrollton High School and joined the United States Marine Corps where he served in the reserve. He worked as a police officer and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. After retiring from the police force, he worked for D&D Driving School for over 20 years as an instructor. He worked almost up to his death enhancing the lives of countless teenagers in the south Dayton suburbs. David was a member of the National Rifle Association. He had a lifelong passion for boxing, having taken up the sport at 12 years of age, and he followed professional boxing and MMA.
David is survived by too many friends to count, especially the morning crew at My Favorite Muffin in Centerville. He will be forever remembered for his conservative values and not being afraid to speak his mind. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Centerville (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45342). Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm till the time of the service at 6:00 pm. Memorial Contributions can be made to Tunnels to Towers, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
