David J. Tumbusch, born on August 31, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, also in Dayton. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy that will be honored and remembered by his family and friends.
David dedicated a significant part of his life to the printing business, including his time at United Color Press in Dayton, where he became well-respected in his field. His passion for printing was complemented by his education at the University of Dayton, where he was a part of the ROTC, and went to various trade schools specializing in printing technology.
David enjoyed a good vacation but found the most joy in being at home surrounded by his family. He was known for his love of swimming and sunbathing, reflecting his easygoing nature. Special occasions often saw him enjoying Mogen David wine, a testimony to his appreciation of the little joys in life.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Janice "Jan" Tumbusch (maiden name Wittman), who shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with him. His children—Andrew "Andy" Tumbusch, Christopher (Kris) Tumbusch, Anthony "Tony" Tumbusch, and Renee Tumbusch—carry forward the values he instilled in them. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Donovan Tumbusch, Rachel (Nathan) Roth, Emily Tumbusch, Maria Tumbusch, Henry (Emily) Tumbusch, Lucy Tumbusch, and Julia Tumbusch, as well as his two great-grandsons, Samuel and Elijah Roth.
He was preceded in death by his father, August J. Tumbusch; his mother, Elizabeth B. Tumbusch; his son, Joseph Tumbusch; and his granddaughter, Susan Tumbusch. They remain in the hearts of those who loved them.
Visitation for David will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424, on February 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will follow on February 28, 2025, beginning at 11:30 AM. David will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
David J. Tumusch’s spirit lives on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
