David Royse

ROYSE, David Leon

age 77 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Grandview Hospital. David was born September 4, 1928, the son of Earley and May Royse. He was retired as the supervisor of industrial engineering from Standard Register Corp. after 39 1/2 years of service. Most important to him were his family and home. He was a loving, inspirational, kind, devoted, and protective husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Wells Royse; sons, Steven David Royse and Christopher A. (Kathleen A.) Royse; grandchildren, Steven David (Debbie) Royse, Jr., Matthew Royse, Kristin Royse, Connor A. Royse, Cameron A. Royse, and Karoline A. Royse; great grandchildren, Dakota Royse and Lexi Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Dallas, and Bill Royse; and sisters, Mayme D. Brooks and Rena Blackwell. Family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday with interment following in Poplar Hill Cemetery. Pastor Ralph Royse and son, Christopher Royse will officiate. "In tears we saw you sinking and watched you fade away. But hearts were broken, we wanted you to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, how could we wish you back with us to suffer again."
