David Edward Love

David Edward Love, 71, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Born on September 21, 1953, David lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a passion for cars and family.

David is preceded in death by his father Russell Love, mother Doris Gay, and stepfather Larry Gay. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jennifer Garman Love, and his children Kevin (Chasity) Love, Matthew (Sheryl) Love, and bonus daughter Kristina (Kyle) Kitzmiller. He was a proud grandfather to Jacob, Kaleb, Liberty, Chloe, Kiptyn, Sawyer, and Cecelia. David also leaves behind his brother Tommie (Judy) Love, sister Diane Love, and numerous family members and friends who cherished him dearly.

David graduated from Greenon High School in 1971 and attended Sinclair College. He worked at Southwestern Portland Cement for 16 years before retiring from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 2017 after a 20-year career. Prior to his civilian work, David proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1975 as an aircraft mechanic, specializing in the maintenance of B-52 bombers. After retirement, David and Jennifer enjoyed spending the winters in the warm sunshine of Florida for five months.

David was a dedicated member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club, where he enjoyed driving and collecting Chevrolets from 1925 and up. He was a true car enthusiast, known as a jack of all trades, and his passion for restoration and collecting was only matched by his deep love for his family.

David’s presence will be missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, ingenuity, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Friday October 18, 2024 at 12:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest next to family at Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Jasper Fire Department (3121 Jasper Rd, Xenia, OH 45385).
