David Edwards Wilhite, age 70, of Kettering, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, August 27, 2008, surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer. David was a life long resident of the Dayton area, he graduated from Kiser High School, served in the Marine Corps and worked for Dayton Press for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his son Mark in 2002, parents Arnold and Bertie in 1999 and 2008. David is survived by his loving wife June of 48 years; children Chris (Joye) Wilhite, Amy (Eric) Reed and Matt (Mindy) Wilhite; daughter-in-law Andrea Carlson; 14 grandchildren Julia, Emma, Eve, Jacob, Alex, Lily, Tyler, Jordan, Eli, Mae, Ruby, Hannah, Aidan and Sydney; brother Gary (Janie) Wilhite; sister Kathy (Ron) Mason; brother-in-law David (Isleta) Apple; nieces and nephews as well as his dog Bogey. David was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. The family would like to thank all those involved in David's care; particularly Dr. Ketan Shah and staff at the Greater Dayton Cancer Center, Dr. Tushar Shah, Kettering Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Dayton. Thanks to all the special friends and family who gave their love and support during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering) with Pastor Jim Williford of North Dayton Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's name to Hospice of Dayton or the American Cancer Society.
